30 Days of New – Day 1

Buffalo Chicken Burgers

For day one of my ’30 Days of New’ challenge I tried a new recipe – Buffalo Chicken Burgers. After a quick online search and a review of the ingredients I had on-hand, this is what I came up with.

The recipe created 4 burgers.  How many you get will depend on how thick you shape them.

Recipe:
1 lb. ground chicken
1/3 cup minced onion
1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper
1/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 tablespoon parsley
1 egg

Oil for cooking
Hot wing sauce
Ranch dressing

Condiments of choice

Combine all ingredients into a bowl and shape into patties.  Heat oil in a skillet and cook patties over medium heat until they reach an internal temperature of 170 degrees.  Remove patties from skillet and pour some hot sauce and ranch dressing (optional) into the pan and heat through.  Place burgers back in the skillet and coat with sauce.  Remove and enjoy!

We topped ours with some pepper jack cheese, ranch dressing and fresh lettuce from the garden.  There weren’t any leftovers – so they must have been good!  I personally am not a fan of onions, so if I were to make again, I would reduce the minced onion by half. However, my family didn’t even realize there were onions in the burgers.

30 Days of New

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about how there just never seems to be enough time in the day.  In this fast-paced world, sometimes it’s hard to find time to really enjoy things.  I allow myself to be a victim of poor time management and I am pledging do something about that – starting today!  While I can’t change the number of hours in the day, I can change how I spend them.  There are a lot of things that I want to learn or try or experience.  So I am going to start doing just that!  I am challenging myself to do, try, experience or see something or some place new every day for the next 30 days – 30 Days of New.  I am not going to sugar coat it – this kind of intimidates me.  I already feel there isn’t enough time in the day and now I’m going to try to squeeze in something new?!?  What am I thinking?  Well, after giving this a lot of I have decided they don’t have to be major time expenditures and they can be family, home, work or self oriented.  It can be as simple as trying a new setting on my camera or a new recipe.  And since I want to learn more about blogging, I am going to use this as the foundation of this challenge.  I will share with you each day what was new and my thoughts on it.  Wish me luck!

Learning the blog side of the world.

Today I am throwing myself into the deep blue sea of blogging! While I have spent countless hours reading posts of others, I have never actually created one myself.  So far, so good.  I am actually in the midst of creating a post now – success one!  This learning experience stems from my career in the digital marketing world.  This will help me to better grasp the in’s and out’s the impact blogging can have. This is the start of a new journey that I hope will inspire me to rekindle some of my other life goals and share the results with you – on my new blog!  Wish me luck 🙂
